Thank you (from a layperson who has not gotten over, and will not get over, the distress I felt and feel from this conviction). At the time, ICE had just started these hardball tactics of scooping people up during court appearances, both in immigration court and many other courts, NOT because there was a sound legal reason to do it but simply to fill quotas decided by Stephen Miller and newly available beds in privately owned, awful detention centers. It is outrageous and the fact that this case even went to a jury outraged me as the State Supreme Court should never have considered a judge trying to do the right thing in a new time of thuggery to be fair game. The presumption of regularity should have been obviously wrong to the legal community from the first days of the new administration. It was to those of us in the public who care.
But, all that said, it will be nice if another judge finally tries to figure out a way to make the law work as it is supposed to work. And in every state of the union we should have prohibitions on courthouse arrests/kidnappings by ICE. In Virginia, our General Assembly voted to do so, but it got vetoed by the governor. Because she knew what ICE and CBP and the DOJ would do in response. Homan got on Fox News Digital and other soapboxes to tell us.
I am confused by the word "proceeding" as was the Judge Adelman. He probably needs the help of (distinguished legal scholars?) Amici Curiae before he rules. Judge Williams (only a state Judge in Florida) had the help of 35 retired Judges as Amici to help her deal with the trump's corrupt IRS case.
This case is really, really important. I hope that many young folks interested in law and justice are following it augmented by your excellent dispatches.

Margaret, I'm just a day-to-day user of internet, but is sounds to me like the link was bad and took you to a fake website. The few times I've had a similar experience, I had to shut down my computer and restart it to clear the phony site. I then ran a security scan of my computer, and fortunately, there was no infection of my computer and no problem with again going to the substack I had been viewing. I did go to the main Substack page and found the email address to report what happened.
difficult to follow and make sense of. You’ve clarified it very well.
Thanks, Adam. The elements of this case have been difficu

I need to correct this post. Judge Kathleen Williams is a Federal Judge, not a state Judge in Florida.
Thanks, Adam.

Thanks Adam!
Hi Adam…
I tried to like your latest coverage of Judge Dugan … SUBSTACK is blocking me. I had to go directly to ALL RISE NEWS to write this.
I received your regular email. I read your statement and pressed the like button. Then I was blocked.
That’s strange. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll look into this.
Hi Adam…sorry I wasted your time. I found a help section for SUBSTACK. Making progress in getting my problem solved.
Thank you so much for covering Judge Dugan’s quagmire.
I wasted so much time with my SUBSTACK error that I will have to reread your report.
Adam…I think I know what happened.
In error I clicked on SUBSTACK’s offer for me to start my own SUBSTACK.
I am not interested but there is no avenue to tell SUBSTACK to leave me alone.
They want to know my friends on SUBSTACK. They want my contacts list. I can’t get off that page.
They sent me a code to validate my email address. I have no idea what SUBSTACK is doing.

Hi again…
Thankfully, it was not a scam. It was SUBSTACK trying to get me to start my own column which I have neither the time nor the desire.
Thank you Anna B. I believe I saw that email address but it would have taken too long for a response from SUBSTACK.
I was blocked from all of my paid subscriptions and was frantic for access. All Rise News is too important to wait even a day.
Absolutely!
