But the grandmas and grandpas rose tall from their chairs,
They linked up their arms on the fresh morning air.

They documented stories in each fearful tale.
They passed out warm meals, they held steady hands,
They built little sanctuaries across many lands.

A neighbor’s compassion, a clergy’s firm stand—
