That brings to mind the woman from my state, Colorado, who sued the state because she "might" start a wedding website someday to offer her planning expertise, but gay couples "might" want her to plan their wedding, which would cause her to clutch her pearls in dismay. The Supreme Court found that her lawsuit was not at all premature and ruled in her favor against the state.
Is it just me or is, “time will tell,” an odd statement for the Supreme Court to make? How is the American public supposed to interpret their decision on this potentially disenfranchising scheme?
You raise a good point Karen. Some states are already preparing their envelopes and ballots. That is certainly a timing issue! It also seems to come down to whether a president has any legal right to be interfering with how the states run an election. The Constitution, does not give him any such right.
I interpret this as selective loathing of the Constitution. It is VERY clear that States control the voting in their jurisdiction. Roberts is a traitor to the Constitution. He bends over like a pretzel to give the most corrupt President in American history more power! That speaks to Roberts character.
It is not just you. I found the statement not only odd but disconcerting in the sense that it implied the Supreme Court Justices who voted in favor are adrift like leaves floating down a stream.
The states should immediately rebuke the Supreme Court and say it is not in their power to put their scales on the elections and try to elect fascist. This is a rogue, Supreme Court and the states and governor should just say that now. Congress should immediately put everything to a freeze the Trump is doing until he completely reverses on this.
Congress should immediately pass Supreme Court regulations to stop them from attacking our elections. They put their their dirty fingers on the scales of the elections before, and we ended up with George Bush.
The rule of law? Is that what SCOTUS thinks it’s implementing? Frankly, it turns my stomach to think these people who are supposed to be honorable and at least somewhat conscientious in their decision making are running our country into the ground.
