Rape is an act of violence that seeks to break the humanity of the person raped, which 90%+ of the time in America means rape victims are women. Smart women have always been targets for these types of bigots. It’s in the very nature of these Trumpian incel types to explicitly lock up women of intelligence and independence and at least have the potential, if not the ability, to sexually abuse and rape this particular group of women, who represent all the incels hate, because the incels couldn’t achieve such academic and professional success, or even come close to achieving the professional successes of these targeted women that ICE insists on locking up. It’s a psycho-sexual torture and domination fantasy that is pornography made manifest, brought to you by the cruel overlords of Trump & Co.

I worked for a while with WOAR and other programs that provide victims assistance, legal support.

No arguments that the junk drawer that comprises the so-called ‘cabinet” in this regime are vile creatures.

That said, Kelley - can you talk more about how your response relates to this OP?

I recently watched Winter Soldiers about the testimony of vets who fought in the Vietnam War. They spoke about the "body count" targets and the inhumane methods that were used to meet those body count targets that were handed down from the top. This post reminds me of what is happening with ICE, and we can expect it to get worse. Miller/Noem have set a "body count" target of 3000 immigrants a day to be arrested. To meet that target, expect the illogical, nonsensical and inhumane activities of ICE to escalate tenfold. Media needs to start exposing these "targets" as "body counts", because that is what they are. (Also ties into the dehumanization of the "bodies" and the increased likelihood of their abuse at the hands of their captors).

Adam, do you think this case is related (at all) to

1) this administration's announcement yesterday that they'd be scrutinizing the visas of all Chinese students and

2) various universities in the US cutting ties with Chinese Universities, citing 'security concerns'?

We have 2 universities here in Michigan (UMichigan and Eastern Michigan) who have done just that in the past several weeks.

One article on the MI schools - https://www.cbsnews.com/detroit/news/eastern-michigan-university-ending-partnership-in-china/
